Howdy Fellow Bowen(ites) 🤠

It’s September: we’re sitting in comfy pants, about to make a log fire, with a warm coffee in hand and Ben Howard playing on the background 🎶

This last month held a lot. But one of the coolest things was probably teaming up with a startup named Benny to gift our cabin away. Oh, and they broke in and stocked our entire home with 100+ Benny’s and snacks for the winner. The contest was promoted on IG and had over 2,000 comment entries 🤯 

We weren’t there in person but can only imagine this is how Amanda Murphy felt when she got a DM saying she had won…

Fast forward a few weeks, she just wrapped up her weekend getaway with 3 friends and told us she had a blast. Here’s a vid on IG of what the cabin came stocked with.

📰 Bowen Cabin News of The Month

• 💻 spun up a new website for the cabin called BowenAirbnb.com 

• 😅 threw together a new TikTok page: @bowen.airbnb

• 🔑 had 72 people stay over at the cabin so far and have a guest book with Polaroid photos to prove it

• 🪵 added a new fireplace with tiling downstairs in the lower suite

• 😴 new blackout curtains to help your sleep score

• ☕️ we nabbed an espresso machine but are only letting guests use it if they can send us a photo of epic latte art to prove they won’t break it (sorry not sorry)

  

• 👟 assembled a new outdoor gym and shed so you don’t miss your gym days

• 🍾 stocked up the fridge with some benny drinks

• 🥔 hosted fraser valley celeb potato ty for a few days

• 🚴🏻 had our first guest to bike to the cabin from Vancouver

• 💍 hosted a few bachelorette groups!

• 🥺 anddddddd the cutest testimonial of the month goes to Aidan and Jen’s daughter for naming out cabin the “Adventure cabin”

🥁 On Deck Next:

• 🪴 sorting out our garden strategy for next spring (send tips if you have ‘em!)

• 🚲 building a bike shed this Friday

• 🌾 cleaning up more of our backyard

• 🎄 getting some Christmas/Thanksgiving decor

👀 Top Spots to Save on Bowen Island

1. Tippy’s Restaurant: Located right by the ferry line, this spot serves 49th parallel coffee, great brunch and has the best hot sauce game in town

2. Sunset Cafe: newly open cafe on the south side of the island just 5 minutes from the golf course, sister restaurant of the Ruddy Potato

3. Artisan Eats Cafe & Fine Foods: arguably the best view in the town with their outdoor patio, but also has 11/10 baked goods and coffee

4. The Shed Restaurant: a must try when you're on the southside for tacos, burgers, potatoes, salad and views of the sunset

5. Tuscany Restaurant: best pasta, pizza and night vibe on the island. Highly recommend you book in advance via phone or email which you can do on their website.

🌳 Hike of the Month: Mt Gardener

Some fun facts about the hike:

• it’s a 10.0-km out-and-back trail 5 min drive from the ferry.

• Generally considered the most challenging route on the island

• Has a beautiful look out point with 2 helicopter pads at the top to soak in some views and take a snack break

• This is a very popular area for hiking and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.

• The best times to visit this trail are April through August.

• Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.
